Use Wet Ice Cubes to Prevent Soda from Fizzing Over

If you're prone to spilling your soda because it fizzes over, reader rks1157 has a simple tip: make sure your ice is wet first.

Pouring a room temperature, or even a cold, soda over ice takes a bit of time or you end up with too much fizz and not enough glass. Here's how to prevent it and pour sodas at record breaking speeds.
Rinse your ice. Yep, that's it. Put the ice in the glass, cover with water, swish and strain. You can then pour your soda as fast as you like and it will not over-fizz. Why? I have no idea! But it works like a charm.
CamJN notes that it's because dry ice has more nucleation points, which allow for the creation of more fizzy bubbles. This trick is especially easy to pull off if you use ice cube trays—just loosen up the cubes, run them under water for a second, then put them in your glass
